iPhone 5 Charger Comparison
With the arrival of the new state of the art iphone 5, a new cable and adapter was introduced. Previous models of the iphone, itouch, or ipad series featured the traditional cable. The previous version of the cable featured a 30 pin plug. The new cable that arrived with the iphone 5, however does not have the 30 pin plug, instead it exhibits a much smaller cable.
What is the difference?
Apple states that this newer, smaller charger will be faster and more sychronized than the old one. The word lightning cable is used to for the new cable to describe the direct connection from the cable to the phone. Although the new cable is still a 2.0 USB, the newer technology is believed to increase speed by somewhere around 4 seconds. However it is still uncertain how the cable comparisons match up. Surely tests and studies have shown that the iphone 5 cable is indeed faster in upload and syncing speed. What is not known is that whether it is due to the new technology that is allowing this speed, or the cable. Thus it is unsure which end of the equation is responsible for this increased speed.
Was it a good choice?
The introduction of this new unique charger poses different viewpoints on how this is affecting the market as well as out lifestyles. One it may be a more convenient item to have. It is much smaller and compact and easier to carty and store. However, it can be used for the iphone 5 only. Thus, if you have anything else this cable is unable to be used. This also raises the question about apple forcing customers to buy that certain cable if they wish to use an iphone 5.
